The road up to the wineries is a little tricky but the wineries, wines and service are all excellent and a nice break from the chaos of the large wineries on the valley floor. Terra Valentine is one such winery that we definitely recommend. Tastings are strictly by appointment only so make sure to call in advance, but definitely worth it. It was our first winery of the day on a cold but sunny January morning and our server, Heidi, was excellent. The winery itself has a great history and has some beautiful stainglass windows. Heidi gave us a good overview of the history and took us on a tour. This was then finished by tasting some of their very good wines in a beautiful tasting room sitting around a large table. The wines were accompanied by cheeses, nuts and chocolate. The one downside is that a lot of their big Cabs are sold through their mailing list so you cannot get to taste them at the winery. |

| 1997 Wurtele Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($60) | Rating: C Feb 9th, 2007 |
| Good nose, well balanced - not as much fruit left and starting to fade, but good mouth feel and a mouth filling. Julian and Robert got stuck at the 1997 for at least an hour - "The 97 is consistent - it comes in the same as it goes out" |

| 2004 Spring Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon ($38) | Rating: B Jan 20th, 2008 |
| 97% Cab, 3% Cab Franc. A light cab, not much fruit and dies on the palate. Needs to open up more, not much fruit or finish. Was hoping for better. |
