1060 Dunaweal Lane, Calistoga, CA 94515 Phone: 707 942 4981 Hours: Open Daily 10.30am - 5pm Club/Discounts: 20% Discount Tasting Fees: 15 Designed as a "temple to art and wine", Clos Pegase is a very interesting place to visit, and one of the most unique winery experiences in Napa Valley. The winery is located in Calistoga, and from the moment you drive into the winery until you walk through the tasting room doors, you would think you are at an art museum and not a winery. The grounds are spectacular with a sculpture garden and fine art - even if you are not mad about the wines, Clos Pegase is worth visiting for the art and grounds alone. A great place for a picnic. Our server was very friendly and the tasting room is large and open. We did not find the wines up to the quality of the art and grounds though, and found the $15 tasting fee expensive for what you got. But I suppose the tasting fee covers the art show as well!! |

| 2003 Hommage Artist Series Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet ($75) | Rating: C Aug 11th, 2007 |
| Finally. Just when we were giving up hope. Easily the best wine at the winery. Good fruit up front, and a nice finsh. Good structure and tannins. Nice wine, but not cheap |
| 2003 Mitsuko Vineyard Merlot ($25) | Rating: A-B Aug 11th, 2007 |
| Ouch. We made it to the merlot and we are still striking out with the wines. The merlot lacks structure and finsh |
| 2005 Pegase Circle Reserve Cabernet Franc ($26) | Rating: A-B Aug 11th, 2007 |
| Tight. Poor finish. Not very good |
| 2006 Mitsuko Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc ($20) | Rating: A-B Aug 11th, 2007 |
| Not mad about this Sauvignon Blanc, especially after a lot of big red wines!! |
| 2006 Vin Gris of Merlot ($17) | Rating: A-B Aug 11th, 2007 |
| "Dump it. Its like cough medicine." Not a very good start to a wine tasting. It is described as "Fun, pink and fruity…", but as you can tell we moved on from this pretty quickly |
