10701 Westside Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448 Phone: 707 473 2900 Hours: Open Daily 11am - 4pm Club/Discounts: 15% Discount Tasting Fees: Current Release: $5, Premier Tasting: $10 Wow, now this is a plush winery!! We had tried Gary Farrell Pinots before so we were excited to check out the winery. We were not really expecting what we came across. The winery is on the top of a hill with stunning views over the valley below. A lot of money went into this place, and it is relatively new (completed in 2000). The private road up to the winery is pretty steep - go in a 4 wheel drive on wet days!! A lot of thought went into the tasting room, and it is worth checking out for the views alone. The tasting room is large and caters to a big crowd. The views from the tasting room bar are incredible. Unfortunately though the wines did not live up to the views and we were disappointed by them. Perhaps it was an off day as we have had good Pinots from Gary Farrell previously, but overall we were glad we called in to check out the winery but did not leave with any wine. Friendly staff but the wines are not worth the price based on that days tasting. |

| Classic Pinot Nose, light raspberry and cherry on the palate, smooth, but not huge finish. |
| 2005 Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir ($50) | Rating: B Dec 8th, 2007 |
| Interesting. Not what we were expecting from a Pinot. Nice nose but more of a Zin finish. "Peppery" |
| 2002 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon ($34) | Rating: A-B Dec 8th, 2007 |
| Light Cab. Looks like a Pinot and smells like alcohol. "Raspberry jam". Very tight. Crap!! |

| No fruit, all finish. Great nose but weak watery taste. Lots of tannins. Come back to later… |
