1960 Saint Helena Highway, Napa, CA 94558 Phone: 1 800 373 5896 Hours: Open Daily 10am - 5pm Club/Discounts: 3 Clubs. Up to 20% Off Tasting Fees: $10, $25 for Reserve Tasting (5 Wines) BV is one of the most famous wineries along Hwy 29 in Napa Valley. Generally we try to avoid the large, tourist-trap wineries, especially on a weekend, so today we decided to call in to check out their tasting room. We had tried BV wines many times in the past, and are especially fond of their Tapestry and Georges de Latour. The winery is built for tourists, with two tasting rooms. The regular tasting room offers the everyday wines for $10 and across the parking lot is the reserve tasting room for $25, which has just been remodeled. Both tasting rooms are large and open and can cater to a lot of people. The server we had was friendly and chatty but did ask for the $25 up front which was interesting. If you want to check it out, we recommend going mid-week as it fills up very quickly. |

| 2002 Georges de Latour ($95) | Rating: C-D Oct 14th, 2006 |

| 1991 Georges de Latour (Magnum) ($100) | Rating: C Apr 14th, 2007 |
| Musty on the nose, certainly an old earthy wine. Still some body left in the wine, but past its peak. A little fruit amongst the tannins - a good wine that probably was at its best 2 years ago |
| 1993 Georges de Latour ($40) | Rating: C Mar 8th, 2008 |
Best Value Wine - March, 2008
Picked up some 93 that were found by the wine store and were selling at half price. most of the fruit has gone, but still good structure and a chewy finish. 3 bottles opened with mixed tastings, but all corkscrew were dry and broke on pulling. |

| 2001 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon ($17) | Rating: C Jan 31st, 2005 |
| Loved this wine - drank with a steak dinner and it matched the meat well with its aroma and structure. Should hold up, and perhaps improve for a few more years. |
| 2003 Georges de Latour ($95) | Rating: C Oct 14th, 2006 |
| Hard to taste alongside the 2002 Georges de Latour. Definitely a lot lighter Cabernet, without the structure or finish of the 2002. A nice wine but lost next to the 2002 Cabernet. |
| 2003 Tapestry ($50) | Rating: C Oct 14th, 2006 |
| Tapestry is one of our favourite wines. The 2003 is a smooth wine, well structured with good tannins. It is drinking well now but will definitely improve with some time. Not as good as previous years but still a nice wine. |

| Light fruits, not as strong as prior years - may already be past its best. |
| 2000 Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon ($11) | Rating: B Feb 2nd, 2004 |
| I have not tasted many coastal BVs - light in flavour and body, but drinkable with food midweek |
| 2000 Private Reserve Pinot Noir ($20) | Rating: B Dec 20th, 2005 |
| I prefer Cabs from BV, and this Pinot confirmed my opinion. Not very balanced with an odd finish |
| 2000 Tapestry ($30) | Rating: B Dec 29th, 2007 |

| 2004 Carneros Reserve Pinot Noir ($40) | Rating: B Oct 14th, 2006 |
| We were not hugely impressed with the Pinot Noir. It seemed very reserved and average. Better Pinots are available for cheaper |

| Bigger to start on the palate. Deeper fruit and syrupy finish |
| 2006 Napa Valley Zinfandel ($18) | Rating: B Jan 31st, 2009 |
| Smells of smoke and fruit. Tastes like it smells, drinkable, but not a huge finish. |
| 2000 Dulcet Reserve ($28) | Rating: A-B Sep 21st, 2005 |
| Light and short |
| 2000 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($17) | Rating: A-B Feb 14th, 2004 |
| Winery thought this was black cherry, anise and tobacco - got none of that, dark colour, but lacking in nose or taste. |
| 2001 Napa Valley Zinfandel ($25) | Rating: A May 12th, 2004 |
| Poor taste, did not store well. Not worth buying again |
